You will be collected from the hotel and transferred to train station.
The comfortable tourist train will take you to the small town of
Aquas Calientes from where busses leave to the ruins (+/- 20 min).
A guided tour through the ruins of about two and a half hours followed
with an opportunity for lunch (not included). Some more time to
explore the ruins and then back by bus and train to Cuzco where
you will be transferred to your hotel.
At the moment there
are two daily trains to Machu Picchu. There is the fast Vistadome
which leaves Cuzco at 06.00 am and arrives at Aquas Callientes at
9.40 and returns to Cusco at 3.30 P.M.
The Backpacker express
is slightly less comfortable and leaves Cusco at 6.15am arriving
at Aquas Callientes at 10.10 and returns to Cusco at 3.55 P.M.
Those people who
prefer the Backpacker express can deduct US$ 35 pp from the total
price they pay for their package.
